A Traditional Island Appetizer From Old Greek Woman

             




              Hello guys! How’s going on? I hope everything is OK! Yeah, let’s talk about another appetizer in this article, what do you thing? We can start if you wonder and you’re a little bit hungry!

It will be a Greek (traditional Greek islands) appetizer. You can found this appetizer on any of the Greek islands but if you cannot opportunities to go any islands, you can make this in your house! I wanna talk about to Greek islands and their people a little bit before i share to recipe. Let’s take a look together!

Before of everything; the Greek people are really local people of these islands. Many Turkish people call them Rums. Turks use to determine old Greek –local- island people in this name. So, you never heard to Turkish people says Cyprus Greeks for talking about them, for example. They are saying Cyprus Rums. Anyway, if you hear that name in your life, you don’t be surprised, they are local Greek islands people for Turks. J

Another subject is Greek and only 2 Turkish islands. Firstly; you will be refresh and full of energy after visit any of islands if you go any one of these islands. I hadn’t opportunies to go any Greek islands but i visited a lot of times 2 Turkish islands. These islands have 2 different cultures and life styles because Rums and Turks are living together in these 2 islands. In this reason, you found double chance to taste 2 different cultures if you visit to Turkish biggest island. A perfect sunrise and sunset, wonderful nature, fresh and clean air, fascinating beachs and sea, smells history and historical builts, houses… Briefly, it will be perfect experience for you, your soul and your life if you visit these islands.

Well, actually we (Turks and Greeks) really look alike too much each other for our cuisines, behaviours, traditions and uncountable a lot of things. I wanna give some examples about foods; dolma Turks call this name of this dish, Rums call this dish name dolmas or dolmadaki. Turks say musakka, Rums say mousakka, Turkish cacık, Greek caciki, Turkish köfte, Greek keftedes and etc. And also these dishes recipeies are almost same. Weird, right? J

Yeah guys! Finally i can share this appetizer recipe. J I learned that dish from my couisin’s neigbor. First time i tasted this dish in her house and i love it! She live in Gökçeada –biggst island of Turkey- island and she 81 years old. Be sure, i don’t remember name this appetizer. Remember, i talked about Rums and Turks living each other in Turkish 2 islands. My cousin and that lady an example of this. We call her madam Vasilakis. She is a local person in this island. She told me they eat this dish in generally big invitation tables and during fasting periods with fishes. That’s why, you can try to make this appetizer in these periods. J

Alright, let’s take a look ingredients of this appetizer:

--- Two palms; pre-soaked and water squeezed bread crumbs

--- 4; large cloves of garlic really good crushed with a dessert spoon of salt

--- 2; spoons lemon juice or winegar

--- 8; spoons olive oil (for making)

--- 4; spoons olive oil (for decorate on the appetizer)

That’s it, guys! Looks so simple right? If you thing like this, i give you a good news; every ingredients going to a electrical chopper for blend.



You can take a serving plate your blended appetizer with a spoon. You cannot believe smells and looks of your appetizer. Also you will really surprised that plate made with bread crumbs! Now you need to lastly 4 spoons of olive oil add to your dish, and ready! Bon appetite, guys! Enjoy it.
